Granny Smith apple pie with crystallized ginger and basil

  1. Make your favourite double pie crust recipe and put first crust into a deep pie dish.
  2. Peel and dice 6-8 Granny Smith apples and combine with 1/4 cup flour, 1 cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg. Chop 2 big handfuls of fresh basil (discard stems) and a handful of crystallized ginger. Add all pie filling into dish and top with second pie crust. Add vents with a fork or a cookie cutter.
  3. Cook 45-50 minutes at 200C.
  4. If it is someone’s birthday, make sure to use dinosaur candles for the maximum effect.
